Last weekend, Mr. AMW and I decided (on a whim) to go out and celebrate our 6th Wedding Anniversary! Okay, the original plan was, just to stay at home and enjoy home cooked meals with Baby Kyle around But I got a bit guilty not taking Mr. AMW out on a date! Without yaya and with Kyle around, that doesn't stop me from being the pa-sweet wife! *laughs* I mean, seriously, I'm sweet ha! :P So the women of the 21st century in me asked my husband out for a simple dinner and "US" time. That's US + a cute tiny third wheel (that we don't mind having him around!)
It was a very good decision!
Without any specific restaurant in mind, we walked around Serendra and planned on trying out Saboten, but since the restaurant was packed and we had to wait in line, the hungry-hippo-momma in me can't wait so I've decided to take him to Chelsea, the ever-dependable restaurant that offers good food with a good ambiance.
As usual, we were served with complimentary bread that was gone in less than 5 minutes! I told you I'm hungry :P
Southern Style Cornflake & Oatmeal Crusted Fried Chicken in a Basket
Php495.00 (approx $11.25)
Rosemary Wild Mushroom Gravy, Home Fries, Arugula and Apple Salad
I'm a fan of anything chicken, so I've decided to give this a try as the cornflake & oatmeal crusted exterior is something I would definitely love! The added Arugula and apple salad on the side gives a unique taste to the overall dish! It comes with a piece of boneless Chicken breast and the other piece has bones which was the thigh/leg part! I would appreciate boneless chicken but that's just me! The gravy is definitely unique and doesn't taste like the usual instant gravy we have from other restaurants.
Classic Beer Battered Fish & Chips
Php495.00 (approx $11.25)
Grandma Irene's House-made Coleslaw, Malt Vinegar, tartar Aioli
I've ordered this dish the first time I dined at Chelsea and I'm glad their presentation changed (for the better). You get 2 long pieces of crispy fish and a good serving of potato wedges! I enjoyed dipping my beer battered fish on the Tartar Aioli!
Slow-Cooked Herbed Norwegian Salmon
Php495.00 (approx $11.25)
Salsa Verde, Mashed Potatoes, Toasted Pine Nuts
My favorite dish for the night. The salmon was served very fresh and was cooked just right! The added toasted pine nuts give a unique crunch bite after bite! Oh, the extra serving of mashed potatoes at the bottom part gives a smooth, cream-like texture on every bite even without the usual gravy on top! I will definitely go back to Chelsea and order this again!
The restaurant accepts cash and credit card payments. Additional service charge will be added on your total bill. The staffs are very friendly and knowledgeable with the dishes they serve! Will definitely go back for another date night with the family!
