Social media influencers can now pass on their Instagram accounts when they die - Daily Mail

Posted: 23 Mar 2020 08:51 AM PDT

Social media influencers have been told by a will-writing service that they will be able to transfer their accounts to a family or friend when they die - but Instagram say accounts can only be 'memorialised' and not used for profit.

Bequests, based in the UK, has launched a scheme on its website that claims to allow those who make money online to pass their asset, an Instagram account, over in their Last Will and Testament.

However, Instagram told FEMAIL it is against policy for people to transfer ownership of Instagram accounts, including in wills.

Bequest's scheme calculates the value of an Instagram account based on its number of followers.

According to the website, accounts are worth £0.0033 per follower, meaning a high profile account such as Kim Kardashian West's - which boasts almost 200 million followers - is worth a whopping £542,922.16.

The value is based on the amount it claims each account makes through sponsored posts and brand collaborations.

A Bequests spokesman said: 'With 203 million followers footballer Cristiano Ronaldo's Instagram profile is worth £675,990 and pop legend Beyonce's is worth £466,200 with 140 million followers on her account.

'At these values, it's clear that social media accounts are worth protecting in the event of death with the ownership of the digital asset needing a beneficiary in order to stop its activity from lapsing.'

It is unclear exactly how Bequest intends to transfer an Instagram account over to another person on the death of the account holder.

By providing proof of death anyone can request an Instagram account be memorialised, but ownership cannot be transferred, according to the platform.

Once memorialised, the account cannot be logged into or changed in any way – posts, likes, followers, tags and comments stay on Instagram and are visible to the audience they were shared with.

Only an immediate family member producing a birth or death certificate as well as proof of their relationship can request for the account to be deleted entirely.

A Bequests spokesman added: 'We can't divulge into our exact process, but it is compliant with Instagram's policy.

'Twitter has a similar policy and you will notice that celebrities such as David Bowie or Michael Jackson still have content being updated on their profiles, long after they have been deceased.'

'We have seen an increase in demand from customers wanting to ensure their digital properties are passed on to a beneficiary, which is why we have provided this as a service.'

Last year Kylie Jenner defended her position as the highest-paid star on Instagram, earning up to $1.2 million (£998,406) per post.

According to Bequests her account is worth £554,024.66.

The 21-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashian's star has accumulated a whopping 166 million followers on the social media platform.

Regularly posting selfies, promotional photos for her skincare brand Kylie Skin, and fun shots with friends and family, Kylie has also earned quite an impressive amount of money through her posts.

According to the Instagram Rich List, the mother-of-one is estimated to charge $1,266,000 (£1,053,242.37) per post on average.

Last year, she placed first on the list, as it was revealed that she earned up to $1 million (£831,945) per single post on the photo-sharing app.

The 34 best Instagram accounts to capture your hearts - Mashable

Posted: 22 Mar 2020 04:09 PM PDT

Since everyone and their mother (and their dog) is on Instagram, it can be tough to separate the bland, average accounts from the truly great ones. But we're here to help!

We've listed 34 absolute best instagram accounts — in no particular order, beyond being grouped with somewhat similar pages. To be clear, there are certainly plenty of fantastic Instagram pages we've left off. We can't rank them all! But this is what we really love, the best in our eyes.

We also tried to feature a mix of accounts. Some will make you laugh, others are our favorite famous Instagrammers, and still others will help you appreciate beautiful photography. Here goes nothing.

The best ubiquitous celebrity Instagram accounts

If you only followed celebs, Instagram would become a pretty boring place. But there are few accounts that are genuinely good — and several you kind of have to follow, because of the conversation they generate.

Rihanna is stylish, funny, effortlessly cool, and imagine not following her?

Did you think there was any way we would make this list and not include Beyoncé?

Ariana Grande is genuinely good at Instagram, sharing short tidbits of her life alongside your typical celeb glamour shots. She's also one of the most famous people alive — with some 176 million followers — and dominates headlines. If you want to keep up with the times, you've got to follow her.

Cardi is hilarious and her Instagram is full of intimate peeks into her life — like the time she downed chicken feet and decided to post it.

Cutest animal Instagram accounts

The internet is pretty much dominated by cute animals, and Instagram is no exception. Read on for some of our faves.

The Dogist is one of the best-known accounts for quality dog snaps. The account also documents (often adorable) moments in the dog's life.

The Instagram account for the UK's Caenhill Countryside Centre is just delightful. The charity works to teach young people the joys of farming and dealing with animals. There's also a good chance you've met Cuthbert, the Centre's world-famous goose who went viral on TikTok alongside farmer Chris Franklin.

The posts from this animal rescue in San Diego is a gold mine for cute animal videos.

Just a little toad, doing everyday tasks.

Sometimes it takes a little bit of creativity to tote your pup around town. Bag Dogs chronicles all the ways we carry our dogs. It's amazing.

If you need a steady diet of kitten pics, it seems pretty obvious that Hannah Shaw (aka Kitten Lady) is a must-follow.

Prissy and Pop are adorable little pigs, and you'll love the cute adventures they get into.

The *other* random celebrities

These celebs might not be ubiquitous follows, but they're still great.

Soccer is the world's most popular sport, OK? It doesn't hurt to follow perhaps the best player to ever lace up cleats. Also, you'll be treated to photos of Lionel Messi's adorable kids and his truly massive French mastiff named Señor Hulk.

Mindy Kaling — of The Office and The Mindy Project — is everything you'd expect her to be on Instagram: witty, fashionable, and poignant.

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a prolific user of Instagram. The 30-year-old posts all kinds of updates and behind-the-scenes moments to her Instagram Story, making her perhaps the most powerful American political figure on the platform.

Actress Amy Sedaris is weird and fun, and her Instagram is also weird and fun.

Most delicious food Instagram accounts

We've all gotta eat, and food accounts will keep you fed well. Or, at the very least, they'll help you build up an appetite with their gorgeous photos.

Bon Appétit's test kitchen, somewhat improbably, has created some of the most beloved food personalities on YouTube. BA's Insta page is full of great video clips and pictures of plates that'll make your mouth water. And, not for nothing, Bon Appétit has consistently great recipes if you're actually stopping by their Instagram for kitchen inspiration.

If you like Bon Appétit, then you'll probably like Meme Appétit. They make jokes about the BA test kitchen folks. It's funny, and it's good.

It's tough to place Chrissy Teigen in any box, so we're going with the food section. You must know Teigen by now: You'll get funny posts, great food pictures, and adorable family snaps.

Andrew Rea runs the uber-popular Binging With Babish YouTube channel that recreates food from popular culture. The corresponding Instagram page is great as well. Check out the massive cheese-pulls and gooey breakfast sandwiches.

NYT Cooking, simply put, is a must-stop for amazing food photos.

Alison Roman is a star at New York Times' Cooking. Her food posts are relatable, fun, and — if you want to make great, simple recipes — a great resource for cooking at home.

Funniest Instagram accounts

It's butts in museums. Not too much else we need to explain.

It's a real trip to see celebrities in odd outfits at the openings of random movies. A person favorite: this classic, denim Jason Alexander fit.

Just look at this guy. That's what you'll get over at Fashion Dads.

Apologies for being NYC-centric, but New Yorkers really do say wild things.

Some good government accounts

It's not common that government accounts are savvy with social media, but here a couple that are actually pretty good.

You wouldn't believe what people try to get onto planes.

The Department of the Interior posts some truly stunning photographs of nature.

Pretty Photo Instagram accounts

Sometimes you just want to take in the world in all its beauty. We've got accounts for that.

National Geographic's photography is legendary, and for good reason. If you make your way over to its Instagram account, you can see its amazing work documenting the natural world.

This account, belonging to Jacob Witzling and Sara Underwood, displays amazing cabins built in forests.

Artists and creatives Instagrammers

If you're not supporting creatives on Insta, you should. It's a great forum for finding and appreciating those who do interesting work. We've got a few here.

Thapp is a U.K.-based artist whose work has taken off on Instagram.

By now you almost certainly know about Humans of New York. That doesn't mean you shouldn't follow it. The account tells amazing stories of everyday people, accompanied by stunning photos.

If you're into make-up and cosplay, snitchery is a great follow.

Strange Planet takes all the seemingly mundane things we do and morphs them into fun alien comics.

Diet Prada shames rip-offs in fashion. So if you live for drama (or clothing), it's the account for you.

Those should get you started, at least.

Since 2012, Rihanna's Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF) has remained on the frontlines of assisting communities disrupted by natural disasters to providing medical services for areas lacking adequate healthcare systems. To keep in line with its mission, the organization (named after her maternal grandparents), responded to the COVID-19 pandemic with a sizable donation, CNN reports.

By administering $5 million to organizations in the United States to others across the seas, the foundation plans to ramp up services for those battling the virus, specifically in remote areas where large scale medical units are hard to implement.

The organizations that'll benefit from the donation include the International Rescue Committee, Partners In Health, Feeding America, Direct Relief, the World Health Organization (WHO), and various medical outlets in Rihanna's native country, Barbados (where the "Work" singer reportedly purchased $700,000 worth of ventilators). The companies will be able to buy the necessary equipment needed to treat patients, gear to keep healthcare workers safe, administer information to large populations, and distribute food where needed.

"When we first began this year, never could we have imagined how (the coronavirus) would so dramatically alter our lives. It doesn't matter who you are or where you're from, this pandemic will affect us all," a statement from the foundation reads. "And for the world's most vulnerable, the worst may be yet to come."

While the CLF hopes its donation will assist with testing kits, WHO notes the act of "aggressive testing" is needed to begin effectively tackling COVID-19's spread while adding that the number of positive cases will inevitably increase. A vaccine is in the early stages of a trial run with countries like China, South Korea, and the U.S. looking to scientists and researchers to create a viable cure.

In an effort to administer information on testing results, Fast Company published an article on the COVID Tracking Project. The online database, created by scientist Jeff Hammerbacher and The Atlantic's Robinson Meyer and Alexis Madrigal, allows users to keep up to date with how many tests and positive cases occur each day in their state.

Kylie Jenner Gets Accused Of Trying To Rip Off Beyonce After Her Latest Instagram Update - The Inquisitr

Posted: 06 Mar 2020 12:00 AM PST

Kylie Jenner is being compared to Beyonce after posting several photos on her Instagram page.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star is known for changing up her hair from time to time. Over the past few weeks, Stormi Webster's mom has been rocking honey blond locks in multiple Instagram photos. Her recent photos, however, show that she may have been heavily inspired by Queen Bey. In the two posts Jenner shared on Thursday, she is posing in a green, leopard dress that stops at her feet. The curve-hugging dress also has a small hood that is placed on Jenner's head. The reality star has her blond tresses styled in a center part, and her makeup is a matte look with brown lipstick and eye shadow.

According to Cosmopolitan, Jenner's latest look was noticed by several of Beyonce's fans. The outlet reports that some fans accused Jenner of ripping off one of Beyonce's looks from 2013. At that time, the Grammy winner wore a green, leopard dress when she performed at the V Festival. In a photo obtained by the publication, Beyonce is rocking a blond bob and the dress has sequins. However, the slight similarity was enough to accuse Jenner of attempting to look like the "Sorry" songstress.

In addition to what Jenner is wearing, fans also noticed that she her hair and makeup were similar to Beyonce's latest look. Some Twitter users even added side-by-side images of Jenner's Instagram look and Beyonce rocking an eerily similar hairstyle in the past. Many decided to voice their opinions about Jenner's look on Twitter.

"Kylie Jenner really asked her doctors to give her that Beyonce smh," one user tweeted about Jenner.

"Give Beyoncé back her wig right now," another non-fan tweeted directly to Jenner.

Other users felt that Jenner wasn't trying to look like Beyonce at all. They felt that, instead of Bey, Jenner may have been channeling her big sister, Khloe Kardashian. The Revenge Body star is known for rocking blond hair, as well as colorful clothing. The majority of the commenters, however, felt that Jenner was clearly copying Beyonce, which is something many members of the Kardashian-Jenner family have been accused of doing in the past.

"Is this Kylie Jenner dressed up as Khloe Kardashian dressed up as Beyoncé?" one commenter asked.

"Does the Kardashian family go through phases of copycatting Beyonce's entire face and body??? STOP BUYING OTHER PEOPLE'S FACES AND BODIES!!!" another Twitter user demanded.

Jenner has yet to address the comments regarding her posts.

The real reason Solange Knowles and Alan Ferguson split - Nicki Swift

Posted: 23 Mar 2020 10:44 AM PDT

Solange Knowles and Alan Ferguson frequently worked together on many projects, with Ferguson co-directing the 45-minute film she released with her 2019 album "When I Get Home," as well as music videos for her 2016 singles "Cranes in the Sky" and "Don't Touch My Hair."

Sounds like a strong partnership, yes? Well, Solange wasn't so sure about it at first. In January 2017, Interview published a chat between Beyonce and Solange, in which the younger songstress claimed that she was nervous to work with Ferguson, fearing it would change their loving dynamic at home.

"I remember telling you years ago that I wanted to work with him, but I was scared because I felt like our relationship, by the grace of God, is the one thing that I can count on to be intact and to be solid," Solange told Beyonce, adding, "When I go out in the world, I know that when I come home, I'm going to find peace with him. And I didn't want any variable that could interrupt that."

As Solange revealed in the interview, it was Beyonce who reassured her that working with her romantic partner was a good idea. "And you actually encouraged that and said, 'I swear, you guys are going to be just fine and will probably make the best work that you have ever made because of the way that you love and respect one another and each other's vision,'" Solange recalled.
