If you see this collection of Balenciaga you feel like it isn't Nicolas Ghesquière that you know, this can be the first impression specially that the 38 looks we saw on the catwalk weren't really 38. Many looks were similar but appeared in different colors and for the first time the designer presented flat shoes in his history with Balenciaga.
Nicolas was inspired by the Famous leaf paneled dress of Cristobal Balenciaga himself and it was this dress that influenced the cocooning shape of pied-de-coq coats in all their colors, also an antique clock in the Balenciaga atelier inspired a new range of watches (see their photos below).
The show opened with three unknown girls with short spiky hair that the brand's team cast from the street, and closed with Gisele Bündchen. The last 2 simple dresses were finished with couture techniques near the neckline, but a laser machine made the precision cut that separated the bodice from the skirt and this is how couture meets up with technology like always in the house of Balenciaga.
N. Ghesquière said before the show started about the bare faced make-up he had on his catwalk that "It was important not to disguise them (talking about the girl he cast from the street) I didn't want clones;" and about his collection, he said "It's a reaction to a certain kind of sexiness, it's about individuality." And this is what we know about Balenciaga, this is why we love the brand and this is why we wait for everything they present because no one but Nicolas can do such a great job and no one but this great young designer can amaze us with his techniques.
All the photos from the show and some details photos are below, enjoy every single detail in them coz these garments are full of details in a very discreet way that you may need to look more than once at the same photo to catch it all.
